Named after the first federation president, Ruby Lee Minar (pictured below), The Soroptimist Ruby Award: For Women Helping Women honors non-Soroptimist women who are making extraordinary efforts on behalf of other women. This award gives the club and the entire organization the opportunity to say “thank you” and encourage others to explore ways to assist women.

The Soroptimist Ruby Award was created to celebrate women who have significantly enhanced the lives of women and girls through professional, business and volunteer activities. A ruby is also a deep red gemstone associated with wisdom, strength, power and love: all words embodying the strong and compassionate women who are award recipients.

The awardee will receive $500 to donate to a non-profit of her choice that benefits women and girls. The award recipient may be eligible for further awards with Soroptimist International at regional and federation levels. Women may nominate themselves or another woman they feel is deserving of this honor.
